I wish I could have gone on this tour— it looked interesting, and my interactions with Andreas were positive. Unfortunately, our ship’s captain determined that sea conditions would make tender operations unsafe. Hence I cancelled at the last minute. Had I known and canceled the day before, I could have had a full refund. As it was, Andreas offered 20% off a future booking.

Ratings explanation: Overall four-star because Andreas was pleasant and I looked forward to the excursion. Value 2-star because the port cancelation risk fell on me. Fun 3-star because I couldn’t leave it blank and I wanted to be neutral about something I didn’t get to experience.

Booking independent shore excursions carries some risk. Some ports are riskier than others. (And no winners when a port is canceled.) This experience sensitized me to the risk at Horta. The possibility of cancellation will weigh heavily in my excursion choice should I have another opportunity to visit there..

What a fun afternoon with Andreas! He met us at our hotel, and we were off on our adventure. We roamed all over Horta – down to the famous and picturesque harbor, through the heart of town, over to charming Porto Pim – all the while hearing history and fascinating stories about Faial, her people, and their culture.
We would highly recommend this tour!

Great City Tour of Horta!

It was our first time to Faial and we didn't know where to start! I googled Faial Tours and visitfaial.com popped up, the walking tour listed was just what I was looking for! It was so easy to book and great communication. We were picked up at our hotel and brought to town to begin the tour. The tour was great! We were led to all different parts of the city, hidden gems we would have never found on our own. The information was a perfect combination of history and culture. We felt comfortable asking questions and being able to spend enough time at each spot. We asked to stop back at the farmer's market for a coffee and snack break and were able to just sit and chat with Andreas.
I would highly recommend anyone sign up for any of his tours!

We booked this solo trip for our 77 year old dad. Booking was easy. My dad had no trouble meeting the tour at the specified spot however they said they would come to him if needed. Dad was able to keep up with the tour and let us know what an enjoyable experience it was.

... Andreas invited us - due to good wheather conditions - to round the caldeira. Together with a picnic it was a really nice half-day. The other half we spent in Horta with it´s history. In total very competent, very detailed and very nice ! Thanks to Andreas for his immense efforts !
