Die Tour mit Andreas war absolute Spitze und wir können nur eine klare Weiterempfehlung geben.
Die Onlinebuchung, die Kommunikation vor der Tour und natürlich der Tag auf Faial mit Andreas waren unkompliziert, sehr informativ bzw. interessant.
Andreas hat uns viele Highlights der Insel aber auch ebenso abgelegene interessante Orte gezeigt. In den Gesprächen haben wir auch viele Details des Insellebens erfahren.

Good way to visit Faial in a day. Tour with detailed explanations and stops at the main key points. Nice picnic lunch with home made food in a beautiful park. Worthwile.

Der Tag mit Andreas war für uns sehr erlebnisreich und informativ. Wir haben uns rundum sehr gut aufgehoben und betreut gefühlt. Wir sind einmal komplett um die Insel gefahren. Dabei hat Andreas es verstanden, uns an den verschiedensten Orten die Schönheit dieser Insel näher zu bringen. Besser kan man die Insel an einem Tag nicht kennenlernen. An alles wurde gedacht. Selbst das Mittagessen in einem wunderschönen Park mit selbstgemachtem Salat und kühlen Getränken an einer liebevoll gedeckten Tafel war ein Erlebnis. Die gesamte Tour war sehr profesionell organisiert und durchgeführt. Auch die Tips zu weiteren Ausflügen und Empfehlungen von Restaurants haben wir gern angenommen und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Andreas ist ein sehr offener und zugewandter Reiseleiter. Es wurde auch viel gelacht. Fazit: Die Touren mit Andreas können wir 100 Prozent weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank nochmal auf diesem Wege.

This was a terrific day! We were the second group to leave the ship and headed through the cruise terminal. We immediately found our guide, Andreas Merz from visitfaial.com. We got into Andreas’ van and headed out for our full circumnavigation drive of the island, plus a trip up to the caldera viewpoint at 2,770 feet.

This was a terrific tour with many stops, including several overlooks. The caldera itself was up in the clouds, and we couldn’t see much, although the pedestrian tunnel through the rim was kind of neat. Certainly, the most memorable part of the tour was visiting the “New land” created by a volcanic eruption in 1957-58. The winds there were ferocious which created a ‘sand blast’ effect but being blasted by black lava sand. Memorable for certain and NOT to be repeated!

Andreas also showed us several black sand beaches as well as several other areas set up for folks to access the ocean waters where no beaches exist. We stopped for lunch at a beautiful, sheltered picnic area near the north coast. Andreas gave us all a taste of local wine, local tea (from Ponta Delgada), chicken, rice, salad, and the local sweet treat. A pretty (and fat) yellow finch was watching us enjoy lunch no doubt waiting for something to fall. I was able to take a few very close up photos of the finch!

Our final viewpoint overlooked the harbor where the Onward was docked. We asked Andreas about obtaining some of the local wine to take back home (as we don’t need to fly!!!) and our friends wanted a supply of the local sweet treat. Andreas took us to the largest supermarket on the island, kind of a mini Wal-Mart super center, as they certainly had more than just grocery items. We obtained two bottles of the local wine and a 250-gram bag of local Azorean tea, which will make it home to Florida.

Andreas then brought us back to the cruise terminal just before 4:00. We thanked him for a terrific tour and returned to the ship.

Wife & I had a very nice all-day tour with Andreas. He picked us up at our hotel in Horta precisely on time and off we went in his very comfortable car/van. Essentially, we circumnavigated Faial stopping at Monte da Guia, Varadouro, the Caldeira. Along the way, at our request, Andreas stopped at a small art school where we bought quality gifts which cost much less than ones in Horta. At lunch-time we stopped at a national forest/preserve and enjoyed a wonderful picnic lunch prepared by Andreas' wife including quiche, fresh salad and delightful Azorian wine. After lunch we visited Volcano Capelinhos and took the northerly route back to Horta, stopping several times to enjoy the beautiful scenery, take photos. Andreas is a great guide. His English is excellent and he is very pleasant and knowledgeable about the history and culture of Faial and the Azores generally. We saw everything on Faial we wanted to and learned a lot about the people, history and culture. I unhesitatingly recommend and endorse this tour.

Nur zu empfehlen. Wer dies nicht nutzt, hat viel verpasst. Andreas ist super.
